24TH Ward Alderman Michael D. Chandler is now promoting an initiative called the “ALL IN” strategy to bring community residents, organizations and key stakeholders together to help address the increasing incident of violence within the 24th Ward. In support of this effort, Nation of Islam Leader Minister Louis Farrakhan attended a welcoming reception and spoke on Monday, August 21, 2012 at the ICE Theatre complex at Homan Avenue and Roosevelt Road.

Sponsored by the Chicago Community Trust, and marketed by MGroup WorldWide Inc., this concert was a total success. With community artist like SPARKLE, collaborating with national and international entertainers such as Sylena Johnson, Carl Thomas, and MusicSoulChild, the audience on the Westside of Chicago, were thoroughly entertained. Members of Governor Pat Quinn’s Neighborhood Recovery Initiative ride the Continue reading First Annual Stop the Violence Parade Kicks Off CAP/CDTES Community Day Valerie Leonard The Donors Forum of Chicago surveyed their nonprofit partners in 2010 and found that • 71% of organizations reported budget decreases in 2009 • 63% had only 3 months or less of cash reserves on hand; only 11% had more than 12 months cash reserves • 44% of nonprofits reported reductions in their number of full-time paid staff compared to 19% in 2008. • 41% reported decreased ability to meet service demands due to reduced funding and increased need. This was up from 22% in 2008. • 68% reported reduced foundation giving • 63% reported decreases in corporate sponsorships • 62% reported declines in government funding, which led to cash flow problems.
